88-90 Tompkins Avenue
Madsen Engineering took the leading role in the structural design for this new five-story mixed-use Brooklyn building designed by think! Architecture and Design. The 58-foot tall building is located on a 42-foot wide corner lot. The cellar and ground floor occupy the whole lot and host commercial spaces, and the upper floors are residential. There is a setback on the second floor for an inner courtyard and balconies on all the upper floors.
The structural system is cast-in-place flat slab concrete supported by a reinforced concrete mat/isolated footing foundation. Madsen also designed the support of excavation for the project.
