Park Slope Townhouse

Park Slope Townhouse
Brooklyn, NY

This high-end renovation project of this 1920s Park Slope five-story residential corner lot building was designed by IN Workshop. The structural scope included reframing of all the existing floors, a new elevator and new stairs with bulkhead and an occupied roof deck.

The building has seven apartments including four duplexes. Steel beams and posts on new footings were introduced for the floor reframing. Madsen also produced steel shop drawings and connection design for this project. With the use of sight-lines, lighting contrast, ceiling heights, and corner treatments, the architect designed the corridors to be extensions of the main spaces, creating a dynamic “room” out of what would otherwise be an afterthought, a space leftover from a subdividing process typical to developer projects.
